  1. Professional Truck Drivers, We Appreciate You All Year!

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week will be held next week. Some truckers might like getting an "atta boy" or "atta girl" (commendation) in whatever form it comes.

We keenly remember the trucker appreciation events held by the long-haul and regional trucking companies for which we drove -- and knew full well that the vast majority of their drivers would never be able to participate.

We're not a trucking company, but we don't want to be like that. We're serious about helping professional truck drivers save money -- no matter where in the world you are or what kind of truck you drive.

We do our best to show professional truck drivers worldwide -- all year -- that we appreciate you and your hard work in transporting freight around the world. If there's a way that we can better meet your needs in helping you to save money as a trucker, please contact us. Thanks.

  2. Truckers' Savings Blog Posts Now Available Another Way

The first of our planned helps for greater flexibility for our readers is now in place. Instead of expecting readers to either visit our blog page or subscribe to our XML news feed, we now offer an email subscribe to blog option, so that anyone who wants our blog posts in a daily summary by email can get them.

  3. Get a Tip, Share a Tip

Truck-Drivers-Money-Saving-Tips.com is the place to "Get and share great money saving tips for truck drivers." If you "get" a truck drivers money saving tip on our site, then please be so kind as to "share" one based on your own trucking experience. Thanks for helping other professional truck drivers around the world save money.

Earn More, Save More

The bad news for truckers' income continues to come in:

  • A June 11, 2013 article stated that one aspect of the new Hours of Service regulation is "a 15% reduction in the average maximum allowable hours of work"; and
  • A September 5, 2013 article cited the research from ATRI (American Transportation Research Institute) that the "Cost of trucking fell in 2012 due to driver pay decrease," specifically:
"Driver wages decreased 4.3 cents a mile in 2012... while their benefits fell 3.5 cents."

In addition, the FMCSA's Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program assigned a "Violation Severity Weight" for all of the violations in the Carrier Safety Measurement System (CSMS), points of which go against a trucker's record and affect his or her employability.

All of these factors -- plus the fact that truckers income is linear and not leveraged -- point to the need for truckers to have a side business so as to have a second income.

We recommend one and are earning money from it.
