Earn More, Save More If you're a professional truck driver who is paid by the mile, by the load, by the drop or any other performance measure -- and the recent winter storms affected not only your ability to travel but your paycheck -- you know first-hand the problems associated with trading time for money. We documented how in December 2009, Mike had to park his truck until the weather cleared a bit from a winter storm. We've had to shut down our truck numerous times over the years due to inclement weather. Then there is our friend Charles. In addition to driving a truck Monday through Friday, he also works on Saturdays and Sundays. He works 7 days a week, but he can't get ahead financially. He's burning himself out and, frankly, he has no escape plan. Chances are good that unless he makes a decision to change, he'll be stuck trading time for money for the rest of his life.
