Prevent This!

On March 12 through our Truckers' Savings Blog, we posted a bloglet about the number of cargo thefts being down, but the value of the stolen loads being up.

What was surprising to Vicki was the statement that after warehouse location cargo theft, "Truck stops were the next most common location for thefts, with Georgia truck stops leading the way".

Just because you may be parking in a section of the country that you think has relatively low crime (like the deep South), never let your guard down when it comes to safety and thinking preventatively.

Wouldn't you hate to be the trucker who woke up one morning only to find out that your trailer had been gutted of all of its freight overnight?

Prevent this from happening. If you need tips on how to prevent cargo theft, please ask your driver manager or trucking company.

On March 5, 2015, the Governor of Kentucky declared a state of emergency when 18-20 inches of heavy falling snow caused more than 600 cars and trucks to be stranded on I-24 and I-65.

One article stated, "Some people were stuck in their vehicles for more than 12 hours."

In case you're wondering, Mike Simons was literally stuck in a Kentucky truck stop along I-75 in his company-owned truck all day that day, too. But to help make up for days when he doesn't earn any or enough money from trucking, he has a second source of income. Do you?
