The numbers are in. According to Figure 9 in a report from the ATRI (American Transportation Research Institute), fully two-thirds (67.4%) of truckers surveyed reported a decrease in pay due to the 34-hour restart provision in the 2013 change to the Hours of Service regulation. The figure also shows the breakdown by percentage of how great an impact this change made on surveyed truckers' wages. While the Hours of Service regulation protects truckers from being run ragged by unscrupulous trucking companies, it also restricts the amount of money that truckers can earn. As long as there are caps on your ability to earn money, you'll never be able to earn an unlimited amount. Isn't it time to start considering earning a second income from the cab of your truck during your off-duty hours?
