  • With This Issue, We Begin...

    ... our 8th year of publishing Truck Drivers Money Saving Tips Email Newsletter!

    We couldn't have done it without you, our loyal readers!

    Thanks for helping us to make Truck-Drivers-Money- Saving-Tips.com a clearinghouse of how truckers around the world save money.

  • It's Coming!

    We've got some special content coming to Truck-Drivers-Money-Saving-Tips.com, so be watching for it.

  • Truckers Savings App

    We mentioned some time back that the vendor through whom we had first published the Truckers Savings App was not ensuring that certain functionality within the app was working as it should.

    We did what we could, but in the end, we were forced to let that year-long contract run out, rename the app and "unpublish" it on the Google Play Store. (We request that you uninstall the old app from your Smartphone.)

    We are pleased that we have found a new vendor and will soon be publishing Truckers Savings App afresh. Hurray!

  • Facebook Live Broadcasts

    On July 15, Vicki started conducting Facebook Live broadcasts through the TruckDriversMoneySavingTips Facebook fan page.

    We very much look forward to connecting with you via live streaming video and helping you to save money on the road.

    See the list of many broadcasts that have been recorded below.

  • New Format

    You may have noticed from the Table of Contents above that we've reformatted a few things as of this email newsletter.

    One big change is the combination of the old "Reviews", "Questions" and "Articles and Other Media" sections under "Media".

    We have listed the media in reverse chronological order of publication on our RSS news feed, but we've identified each type of entry.

    We hope you like this new format.

Prevent This!

According to an August 11, 2016 article, "a truck driver from Apison in Hamilton County, Tennessee is facing charges after causing a wreck".

When we read statements like this, we always want to know the cause.

The trucker's "9-year-old daughter was with him in the vehicle" at the time of the crash and photos of the wreckage show the girl's toys.

Quoting the article,

  • odor was coming from the driver,
  • "[he] admitted that he had been drinking", and
  • "different field sobriety tests ... given to him ... showed ... he was impaired".

No one should ever get behind the wheel of a vehicle -- especially a commercial motor vehicle -- to drive after drinking alcohol.

Alcohol must have time to pass through the body so that that the "blood alcohol content" (or "blood alcohol concentration") is below the legal limit in the country where you're driving. (In the United States, "It is illegal to have any measurable alcohol in the blood while driving".)

Neither the trucker nor the child were injured as a result of this crash, but "it could have been a tragedy".

Nevertheless, numerous costs were involved (and may be ongoing), including:

  • Damage to the truck/trailer unit;
  • The trucker's daughter being taken into custody with Social Services;
  • The road being closed until the wreck was cleared; and
  • Damage to the trucker's driving career.

Don't drink alcohol and drive!

Prevent this!

Videos

On July 15, Vicki Simons began conducting daily Facebook Live broadcasts in keeping with a 90-day commitment to sharing valuable content about how professional truck drivers can save time and money.

Twice, her husband Mike has shared his wisdom and, twice, "Timmy Poor Pockets" -- who represents truckers who have been keeping themselves poor -- has shared, too.

To interact with us during our Facebook Live broadcasts, you need to:
1. "Like" our TruckDriversMoneySavingTips page; and
2. Turn on notifications.

With rare exceptions, we have made these broadcasts at 9 p.m. ET and plan to continue doing so unless there is overwhelming support for a different time frame.

For readers who cannot access these videos on Facebook, we plan to save the main points of each broadcast in a video to be uploaded to YouTube. No time frame for this work has been set.

Here is the list of the broadcasts from July 15 - August 10:

Earn More, Save More

A March 30, 2016, article stated that

  • "One-third of Americans report they have no retirement savings" (33%); and
  • Another "23 percent have less than $10,000 saved";

which adds up to 56% of Americans having less than $10,000 in retirement savings.

Have you started saving for retirement? Are you satisfied with the amount of money you have saved for retirement?

If you're a professional truck driver,
if you're not making the kind of money you want from your trucking job, and
if you have off-duty time to start earning a second income (such as from the cab of your truck),
then you may want to take advantage of the information in the Second Income for Truckers E-Course.

Starting the wrong kind of business for you from the cab of your truck could prove costly in both time and money.

Learn everything you can from Second Income for Truckers E-Course today!
