    • that any GPS (Global Positioning System) unit that has specifically been configured for 13'6" commercial motor vehicles

  • Have You Installed the Truckers Savings App?

Our "new" Truckers Savings App is listed in the Google Play Store.

(Probably more so than through our website. Seriously.)

Prevent This!

The title of this section this month should probably be "Prevent These!" because we'll be focusing on 3 points from the list of "Top 10 Reasons Accidents Happen" from TeamRunSmart.com:

"4. Cargo shifting or improperly loaded commercial trucks"
The solution for this is, of course, to properly load and secure the freight on your trailer.
If you don't know how to properly load or secure your freight, ask for instructions or help.
Don't be too proud to ask. Your pride will be in the dust if your freight falls out of or off your trailer(s).

"3. Under-inflated tires on big rig trucks"
The solution for this is, of course, to keep your tires properly inflated (according to manufacturers' specs).
Monitor tire inflation and tread depth during your pre-trip inspections.
Yes, it takes a little longer to do this daily, but the safety payback can be large.

"2. Speeding or unsafe acceleration"
The solution for this is, of course, not to speed or accelerate unsafely.
Don't get in a hurry. We learned our first year in trucking, "The fastest way to cool off a 'hot load' is in a ditch."

Prevent these!

Earn More, Save More

The headline of the November 10, 2016, article read, "Owner-operator 2016 income stable, even with downturn".

Now many owner-operators may be pleased with the assessment by Todd Amen, president and CEO of ATBS: "I think the most remarkable thing is that income is holding steady in a flat to down year for trucking."

We realize that business is a risk. There are up years and down years in many industries.

But what we'd like to know is:
If you're an owner-operator and
your income held "steady" this year,
is that the news you really wanted to hear?

For example, did your expenses hold steady this year, or did they go up?

Would you have preferred a different kind of news -- like your income went up and significantly this year?

If you drive a truck in the USA or Canada -- and you're staring the winter driving season in the face -- are you bracing yourself for times when you will have to shut down your truck because of bad weather?

How does that make you feel?

Are you among the 7 in 10 Americans who have less than $1,000 in savings?

Don't you wish there was something you could do about stabilizing or growing your income in your off-duty hours?

Well, there is!
