I love trucking, but let's be honest: I am in this business to make money. The only thing I like better than making money is keeping it. There are two factors





 

Earn More, Save More

Don't you hate it when a road that you're used to traveling is closed (whether due to construction or an accident)?

According to a May 29, 2018, article, major traffic delays were expected when "a stretch of I-70 in the metro Kansas City area" was scheduled to be shut down for a weekend.

In this case, area traffic was going to be detoured onto other routes.

While it is always advisable to be prepared for things like this, it invariably takes longer to go the same distance on a detour than the original routing would have taken.

That hurts a trucker's drive time.

And if a trucker is paid based on a set number of miles (not including extra detour miles), that means being paid less per hour and less per mile than the original routing would have paid.
