In a January 4, 2020, article, we read:
Almost 200 crashes were reported in New Jersey in a span of twelve hours on Sunday.
New Jersey State Police responded to 188 crashes between 12 a.m. and 12 p.m. on December 3rd as a result of a winter storm that yielded snow, sleet, and rain.
A 12-hour timeframe is more than one day's worth of driving a truck professionally!
Many truckers haul freight in areas prone to snow and ice in the winter.
Just one patch of black ice can cause a semi to slide, perhaps completely off the road!
When the weather is treacherous, it is best not to travel rather than risk being involved in an accident.
Since each trucker is the one who operates his/her truck, it is up to him/her to determine if it is "safe" to drive.
