• Watch Your Temperatures
  
  In my TDMST Weekly Round-Up for this week, I cited an article with a weather forecast for the southwestern USA, where the temperatures are estimated to be up in the triple digits this weekend.
  
  Especially when weather temperatures are high, you need to pay attention to other temperatures, too, including:
  
  - Your own body temperature (hot truck, empowerment, drinking water, stay cool);
  
  - Sleeping conditions (sleep better, idling-related series, proposition);
  
  - Your truck's temperature (keep water and oil levels optimized, keep the fuel topped off);
  
  - If you haul a refrigerated trailer, the temperature in there (keep the fuel level topped off); and
  
  - The temperature of any perishable food you carry with you (thermoelectric coolers vs. ice chests vs. compact refrigerators).
  
  Your health and wellness are paramount, so take care of yourself!

Someone who worked as a trucker in 2017 said that in 2021 a collection agency was demanding $400. Ask this collection agency question.

Earn More, Save More

In her TDMST Weekly Round-Up for the week ending June 12, 2021 (linked just above), Vicki linked to an article about using one's ELD to prove that detention pay is needed.

The article stated, "You're not going to get detention pay if you don't ask for it. Don't expect them to pay it without putting it on your invoice."

While that's true, it kind of makes us wonder why truckers have to scrap for every single thing that is owed them.

Wouldn't it be nice to earn a second income where you don't have to fight for every little thing?

When temperatures rise, tempers can flare.

Please don't let the behaviors of others get the better of you!

Be watching for the potential for road rage or those seeking to cause you to have an accident (through inappropriate lane changes, brake checking, and the like.)

Also, actively reduce the opportunities to be distracted while you drive.

Don't drive when you're tired and be careful about driving after dark and in the pre-dawn hours.

Always do thorough pre-trip inspections, so that you're ready for an official inspection at any time.
