Other Physical Address for a Drivers License

Ask Your Truck Drivers Money Saving Questions HereHello,

Merry Christmas.

Thanks for answering questions on topics relevant to truck drivers. I am hoping to save money on rent and go houseless as mentioned in your article on this topic.

DAT TruckersEdge - Most Loads. Best Rates. Serving Owner-Operators Since 1978. 10% off your first 12 months. New customers only.

My query, after giving up my apartment, for the physical address that needs to be provided to the Department of Motor Vehicles and other organizations, is an address from friends and family the only choice? Or, are there for profit or nonprofit organizations that autheticate (background verification in addition to identity documents) an individual to use their address for a fee?

Regards,
Suresh

I am personally not aware of any for-profit or nonprofit organizations that authenticate an individual to use their address for a fee.

There may be some storage facilities and trucking company terminals where one may park one’s vehicle, but there may be difficulties associated with using those locations as the physical address on one’s driver’s license.

During the time that Mike and I parked our personal vehicle at the home of friends, we never once (to the best of my memory) ever received any mail there *because* we had already set up our mailing address at our local UPS Store.

Feel free to ask around regarding long-term parking of your vehicle, bearing in mind that there needs to be a level of round-the-clock security to help prevent vandalism and theft.
