This thing is fantastic. Buying the inserts at Wal-Mart for $0.88 per 3-pack (without the lids)($3.99 at most truck stops) ,the inserts will hold a large can of soup, and heats to boiling in about 15 minutes. The external body is made of plastic ;take caution in properly latching the clasp, as it is easy to misalign. If this appliance ever fails, I will buy another one. Have also cooked things like spaghetti, Ramen noodles, and made grilled cheese sandwiches, albeit having to do them in ‘halves.’
