Fifth wheel make a bang noise got a pin on the passenger side sticking out. It rock back and forth with you going down t road.can see a gap between the trailer an fifth wheel.
Response from Vicki:
The only time I’ve ever seen the type of gap you’ve described is when a yard mule has lifted a trailer for temporary transport on a lot at a shipper’s or receiver’s location. However, the trailer needs to be in contact with the fifth wheel platform for hauling by a trucker.
The only time a fifth wheel “bangs” may be when a professional driver is connecting a tractor to a trailer. If there is a sound while the trailer is being hauled, then there is a problem. Then, too, you want to make sure that you don’t have a “false” trailer connection (which can be especially problematic in the winter).
As for the “pin” or release arm sticking out on the passenger side, you may have a defective fifth wheel on your tractor and I urge you to get your unit evaluated and fixed by a qualified mechanic, perhaps at your trucking company’s shop.
