Curious about not only what kind of windshield washer fluid truck drivers use but also, what is the BEST windshield washer fluid (in thier own opinion) Driven cross country many times and have yet to find a good let alone great windshield washer fluid 🙁 Advice would be great! Please be as specific as possible in telling me the brand, name and what not. Thanks!!

Thank you for asking a question on our website.
If it seems that windshield washer fluid just doesn’t work as well as it used to, it’s not your imagination, according to this article:
“…over the past two decades, bureaucrats in various state environmental protection agencies, with help from the feds, have placed ever-tighter restrictions on the concentration of cleaning solvents in wiper fluid.”
Because of government restrictions in cleaning solvents in these products, we are not aware of any commercial windshield washer fluid that is any better than any other in independent tests. Our readers may know more.
Note: Manufacturers of brand name products may claim that their products are superior, but independent tests would bear that out.
I am particularly interested to know which windshield washer fluid is preferred by truckers who drive in states that use salt on the roads in the winter. Cutting road grime is one thing; cutting road grime with road salt is another.
In the past, we have attempted to make our own homemade windshield washer fluid for our own personal vehicles, but it has a tendency to freeze in near-freezing temperatures (not good!).
When my husband Mike and I drove OTR together and then when he drove regionally, we could stock up on windshield washer fluid at company terminals or else buy it on the road, get a company-issued P.O. for it and get paid back.
If you drive a company-owned tractor, you might want to check to make sure that the mixture you use will not damage the paint job of the truck you drive.
So I open this up for discussion and ask for professional truck drivers’ product reviews of different brands of windshield washer fluid.
