Response from Vicki:
Hello, Wayne,
Thank you for contacting us here at
http://www.Truck-Drivers-Money-Saving-Tips.com
about our Truckers’ Savings Blog.
We appreciate your feedback. Yes, sometimes, it does seem there is nothing “good” that truckers are doing to save money. But wouldn’t you agree with me that we can learn from both the positive and negative examples of what truckers do?
You may or may not be aware that our desire is to help as many truckers as possible save as much money as possible. We write transparently about both our successes and “bone-headed” mistakes in trucking. We are not aware of any other trucking website that writes about both the good things truckers do to save money and the stupid things truckers do to waste it (or slash their trucking jobs or careers) — both of which we can learn from.
Recently, I posted a bloglet through our site about a trucker who killed a bicyclist when making a right hand turn. Previously, I was of the opinion that it was the cyclist’s responsibility not to run into a truck making a right turn. But three sets of laws (federal, state and local) were cited in the article that said that it was the trucker’s responsibility to watch out for cyclists. Because of the death of the cyclist, the trucker’s job or career could be in ruins. I am willing to learn from this negative example so as not to repeat it. Aren’t you?
Because you’ve taken the time to write, I have a question for you: How would you like to make Truckers’ Savings Blog better?
We’re always on the lookout for more and better ways for truckers to save money. If you see an article about truckers saving money, please send it to us. Also, if you are open to it, we have a Truckers Savings Journalists’ program.
If you have not already done so, I encourage you to subscribe to
our free monthly Truck Drivers Money Saving Tips Email Newsletter:

My husband Mike and I wish you safe travels and lots of money saving opportunities on the road.
Thanks.
Best regards,

There is not one single thing about saving money for truckers. There are news stories about getting busted for hauling dope, another about a man being convicted of killing two people in a wreck. So, again…
Whassup with that?

Hi, Wayne,
Perhaps we expect for our readers to “connect the dots” when we post some articles to our blog:
* When a reader sees an article about the detention, arrest, conviction — and implied legal fees, loss of CDL, loss of job and loss of trucking career — associated with hauling drugs, it is a reminder not to do that;
* When a reader sees an article about a trucker who rear-ended the back end of a bunch of slowed or stopped vehicles (and consequently killed people due to the impact), it is a reminder to pay attention to stopped traffic and not to drive tired.
Perhaps we will never agree on this issue, but all of the articles we post are posted to help truckers save money — if not directly, then indirectly. Learn from the good and the bad.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Vicki Simons

(+) The information above was the exact conversation that was held by email between a temporary subscriber to our Truckers’ Savings Blog email list and Vicki.
The day after Vicki sent her second email, she came across this quote by Internet marketer Alex Jeffreys that fit the situation perfectly:
“There are three types of people:
1. The person who doesn’t learn from his mistakes;
2. The person who learns from his mistakes; and
3. The person who learns from the mistakes of someone else.”
No matter what field of life is targeted, when we are willing to learn from the mistakes of others, we can save ourselves time and money by not repeating those same mistakes.
