how much do it cost for one.
Response from Vicki:
Thank you for asking your question about the cost of a fifth wheel for a tractor trailer. We have never seen one of these off of a semi tractor (that is, every one we’ve ever seen has been already mounted on a truck).
You may wish to research truck parts stores to learn more. Prices may vary by location. I suggest that you start looking at truck part stores near you so that you can go pick it up to save on shipping costs. I Googled “truck part fifth wheel” to get an idea of what is available. If I were personally looking for such a part, I would add in a city and state to the search term to get manufacturers or distributors near me.
Pay special attention to the size of the part and its maximum payload. Bear in mind that some vendors may only sell this kind of truck part in bulk or in quantity. Furthermore, make sure that if you plan to install this part on your truck yourself, you have the appropriate tools and equipment.
Finally, compare the specifications and costs of fifth wheels that you are considering buying. A lower cost product may not be your best value. Determine if the product comes with installation. More importantly, see if it comes with a warranty.
If you are getting rid of an old fifth wheel, determine where you can safely and legally dispose of it. It is possible that depending on its condition, you may be able to resell it.
I hope this helps.
Mike and I wish you safe travels and lots of money saving opportunities on the road.
