I have a video of a trucker siphoning gas from a company truck and putting it into his personal truck, what steps can i take in reporting him?

Response from Vicki:
Thank you for asking a question on our website.
We have a page on our site about preventing fuel theft and diesel theft from big trucks. However, if I understand what you wrote, you’re talking about a situation that is a bit different.
You did not say whether or not you work for the company that owns the truck from whom the trucker stole the gas.
You did not say whether or not the trucker works for the company that owns the truck from which the trucker stole the gas.
You did not say whether or not you have the license plate number from the vehicle into which the stolen gas was placed.
While I cannot speak for every company, here is what I would do if I were in your shoes:
1. Call the company and ask this question:
“Hello. I have a video of someone siphoning gas from one of your company vehicles. With whom should I talk about this?”
Assuming you get a name, thank the person.
2. If the receptionist gives you the name of someone and no title is given, ask:
“Would you please tell me {his/her} title at your company?”
Assuming you get a title, thank the person.
3. If you are not transferred to that person’s phone, say:
“Would you please transfer me to {his/her} phone?”
You may be asked for your name somewhere along the line, so be prepared to give it.
4. If you are transferred to that person’s phone, you may or may not have been introduced before {he/she} picks up. When the person picks up, if {he/she} does not indicate that {he/she} knows why you’re calling, ask:
“Hello. I have a video of someone siphoning gas from one of your company vehicles. Are you the person at your company with whom should I talk about this?”
Speak only with the person who has authority to take action on this.
5. If you are transferred to a voice mailbox, then be prepared to briefly state your name, your phone number and why you’re calling. Ask for a call back at the person’s earliest opportunity.
6. Depending on how the company works, you may need to get an email address from the person where you may submit the video and any other information that you have.
7. If the video is so large that it cannot be sent by email attachment, you may need to arrange another way of getting it to the company (such as by pasting the video on a USB flash drive and hand-delivering it to the company).
I would let the company be the entity to pursue confronting the trucker.
I would contact the company as soon as possible (just in case the trucker goes on the road).
I hope that this is helpful to you. I wish you great success in making the contact and bringing this thief to justice.
We would be interested in knowing the outcome of this situation.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Vicki Simons
