Truck Window Screens and Screens for Large Trucks

Truck window screens may block many flying insects and perhaps other creatures from entering large trucks — while drivers are traveling or parked.

Unlike screens on residence screen doors, truck screens must be manually inserted between the window and the window frame.

Screens for truck windows are made with a larger plastic reinforcement “grid” so that the screen is not easily torn.

Truck window screens are made in several different sizes, for most makes and models of large tractors, including:

  • Freightliner
  • International
  • Kenworth
  • Mack
  • Peterbilt and
  • Volvo.

Truck window screens allow air to come into a tractor from outside, which can reduce the need to idle one’s truck for ventilation. When one’s truck doesn’t idle for comfort:

  • one saves money on fuel;
  • there are no fumes from the exhaust;
  • there is no idling noise; and
  • truck vibrations due to idling are eliminated.

Truck window screens also provide a measure of security versus having one’s windows open without the screens in place.

Do you think that having a truck window screen installed on this tractor would prevent a rattlesnake from entering?

Truck window screens will not eliminate these things nearby:

  • smells; and
  • sounds.

Also, they may hinder the entry of rain, but not actually prevent it.

truck drivers money saving tip iconMoney saving tip: If you plan to use truck screens while driving, consider how well you will be able to see your mirrors.

Drivers in mirrorless tractors (those with cameras) may experience no visibility issues.

Another point to consider is how often you will need to reach out your driver window to:

  • make toll payments and get receipts,
  • give or accept paperwork from a shipper/receiver,
  • manually operate truck scales, etc.

Of course, you may manually remove and reinsert truck window screens, just not while driving. Each single order of truck window screens comes in a 2-pack (one screen for each window, driver side and passenger side).
