Mirros That Fold In

Response from Vicki”

Hi, Jim,

Thanks for asking a question on our website.

We have an article on our website about truck mirrors and especially those that fold in (folding truck mirrors). However, we did not address where to buy them if a trucker wanted to install them on a truck that did not already have them.

The photos on that page are of the truck that my husband Mike was driving for his at-that-time trucking company, a Freightliner Cascadia.

In our truck review, Mike and I stated that we liked the fact that the side mirrors folded in, but disliked the fact that they were smaller than the truck mirrors we were used to and that they were set lower on the truck (which made it harder for us to see objects higher up).

We don’t necessarily endorse this resource, but in researching this subject, I found a left hand folding mirror [resource no longer online]. It appears as though the smaller-than-a-traditional mounting bracket is included.

If you are not skilled in making these types of replacements, it would be wise to get help from someone who is. One question I have is: What do you use to cover the holes left behind from a traditional mirror mounting bracket when a folding mirror is installed?

Should you engage in the process of replacing one or both of the mirrors on your truck, would you please take photos along the way and share them with us? I’m sure that our readers would enjoy seeing those. Also, after you install your new folding truck mirror(s), would you please write a review and send it to us through this site? We would appreciate it.

In the meantime, if any of our drivers have information that can help Jim, please comment below.

Jim, Mike and I wish you safe travels and lots of money saving opportunities on the road. Thanks.

Best regards,
Vicki Simons
