Thanks for asking a question about your inverter through our website.

I wish that you had specified which brand of inverter you are using. Because the PowerDrive brand of inverter has been a popular one at some truck stops, I am going to share I am going to share with you
– how I found the manual online and then
– what I found in the manual.

I typed “inverter error OLP” into a search engine which led me to a bunch of likely sources. After attempting to find a manual directly from PowerDrive — and not finding the info for which I sought — I consulted a website that lists manuals from different manufacturers.

I found this resource for a 1500-watt PowerDrive inverter. Then I scrolled through the pages until on page 6, I found this:

Current Overload Protection:
If the inverter is overloaded, it will shut down to protect itself. The meter will flash (OLP) to indicate Overload Protect.
To restore normal operation, disconnect the excessive load and turn the unit off and on again using the Power Button.

I realize that you said you have nothing plugged in. I am not an inverter expert, but you may wish to turn off the unit, leave it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on.

If that does not resolve your problem, you may wish to find out if there is fuse between your inverter and your truck’s batteries. We found out the hard way about doing inverter troubleshooting regarding this. If the fuse is bad, replace it.

You may also consider disconnecting and reconnecting the cables from the inverter, but be careful not to shock yourself. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions about how to do that.

I wish you well in the resolution of this problem. I hope that you will not have to completely replace your unit. One piece of good news is that your inverter is showing an error message on the face. If your unit was not working at all, you wouldn’t be seeing this.
